I Heart Denver Store is a special retail project to support Denver and Colorado’s creative economy. Our award-winning model provides capital to local artists & designers to help them grow their businesses. We currently support 200+ artists, designers, and design-focused businesses based in Colorado. We're located in the heart of downtown Denver at Denver Pavilions off the 16th Street Mall.
We Support Local Artists & Designers
Through participation in the store, artists and designers have access to information about pricing, customer interaction, packaging, and the overall success of their designs. This information allows them to make informed decisions about their works and businesses.
We Export the Local Creative Culture
Customers from all over the world shop at I Heart Denver Store. The store provides a singular resource for products that define Denver’s creative culture and exports that culture to the rest of the world through sales of 100% local art and design goods.
We Encourage Sustainable Growth
By advocating a generous sales model, we are able to encourage artists to produce more and better work. They come to us for suggestions on how to produce their items, and we always advocate for a local production model. Throughout the years, new artists and designers come to us with a few pieces they have made. After some months selling those items in the store, they often expand their offerings. We are proud to contribute to their inspiration and motivation to produce creative works.

He's named Denver Picard for Samuel's love of the city and for his love of Star Trek (Captain Jean-Luc Picard). Denver Dog Magazine gave him a spread in 2014, Westword Magazine named him Best Shop Dog in 2012, and he won a Go the Extra Mile award from Visit Denver for charming tourists and making downtown a friendlier place. Says Westword, "[Denver Picard brings] a little joy to your shopping during his in-store visits. Bark twice if you love Denver!"
Denver Picard was was recently featured in the Moon Handbook for Denver and in an article in Alive Magazine. And he received a letter from Congresswoman Diana DeGette contragulating him on the Westword award.
Denver Picard has a line of products in the store, including artwork, magnets, postcards, and buttons. The store sells a Denver Picard felting kit made by Fancy Tiger Crafts and a Denver Picard plush toy made by CHM Design. That means that one way or the other you can take Denver Picard home with you. Shouldn’t everyone share in the corgi fun?
Back in 2010, 15 min. LLC owner Samuel Schimek opened a small pop-up shop in a vacant building as part of Create Denver, a civic initiative that promotes the local creative community. From there, the city of Denver helped Samuel co-develop and promote YesPleaseMore, an economic development platform for creative entrepreneurs.
The YesPleaseMore series of pop-up stores held short-term leases in vacant buildings around the city. The project also benefitted property owners by activating these spaces, putting a spotlight on various Denver neighborhoods, and boosting their commercial viability. In April 2011, Samuel grew the store further, moving it to a long-term location at Denver Pavilions. From there, I Heart Denver Store was born.
In 2010, Samuel was awarded the Mayor’s Design Award for his work as the Cofounder of YesPleaseMore. Denver Magazine named him top designer under 35 and a creative genius for redefining Denver’s creative sector with the pop-up store program. In 2013, CBS4 and The Denver Business Journal also wrote an article on Samuel and the pop-up store concept: "Schimek Takes Pop-up Concept to Full-time Storefront."
Founded in 1914 as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, AIGA remains the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design and is now known simply as “AIGA, the professional association for design.”
